Pastor Andrei in Moldova
Summer 2017 … somewhere in Moldova
Recently Andrei, the pastor of our partner church in Burlacu, had the joy of baptising nine people in his church one Sunday.
You can see all the people, mainly young, standing beside Andrei.
The church building is absolutely packed full for the baptism service.
Of course they don’t have a baptistry inside the building and so have to use a large children’s pool outside! The weather at this time of year is inevitably warm and sunny you’ll be pleased to hear. He is actually baptising his eldest daughter, Emma, here.
As usual each summer the church hosted and ran a children’s club for a week. What an amazing variety of activities!
Here are some of the happy children with Ghenadi and Ana, the youth leaders, in the front. We know some of the children from our visits to Burlacu.
Pastor Andrei Ghedeon and his wife Eugenia lead the Baptist Church in Berlacu, Moldova, the poorest country in Europe. We have been supporting their ministry there since 2007. There are currently problems due to people leaving the village and Andrei has not had a car since September 2016. It will cost 3,000 euros to replace it.
In July 2015, we sent a team of ten members of our fellowship to Berlacu, where they learned about the cchurch, community and country. They took part in and led a variety of special activities during their week there.
Pastor Andrei and Eugenia visited SFC for a week in July 2014, the first time they had been to UK. During 2014, their fellowship built a new, larger church to replace their old one. It was dedicated on 23rd November. Since then, the old church building has been used for children’s and youth work.
